Scrapbook Banner How to

Scrapbook Banner How to
Make your scrapbook banner a reflection of the page it announces and don't limit yourself to one dimension

Don't just print out a black typed banner and glue it to the top of your scrapbook album pages. Add banners that mimic those seen at parties held in the office and home. Scrapbook banners don't have to be stationary either, add some movement within the scrapbook for a pleasant difference.

Alphabet Banners

Spell it out in your scrapbook banner by using letter cut-outs of the alphabet. Just as you would put together a banner to hang from one wall to another at a birthday party, announcing "Happy Birthday," do the same with your scrapbook. Use cut-out letters of the alphabet — each paper letter decorated in the scrapbook theme and linked together with a ribbon, for example — to announce your scrapbook page topic. Alphabet letters could be outlined with symbols matching the scrapbook page topic, such as the letter "B" outlined with small cake images. Other cut-out images can be used, too.

Announcement Banners

Scrapbook pages picturing baby birth pictures could incorporate stork banners at the top of the page in keeping with the arrival of the little one. Storks depicted with a large white diaper or bag in their mouths as they fly through the air make excellent banners for baby scrapbooks pages. Put a photo of the newborn after birth atop one stork "package" on one page and a photo of the proud parents with baby in their arms in another stork's hanging bag on another page.

Creative Banners

Make your scrapbook banner a reflection of the page it announces and don't limit yourself to one dimension. Keep to the theme of that page as a whole. Use banners made of real toothpicks for the cooking pages, laminated or natural leafs for hiking pages, kid photos for your teaching page or lipstick-pressed impressions for fashion pages. For scrapbooks with only one theme, create banners that highlight each different aspect of the topic. For example, Christmas scrapbook banners can include real mistletoe, pictures of gold-colored pine cones, snowmen or angels and the name Jesus spelled out in block lettering.

Hanging Banners

Add movement to your scrapbook pages with banners that hang and swing from the top of each page. Staples or glue can keep the banner attached to the page. Strings, ribbon, cord and wire can be tied to each individual letter of the banner and then attached to the top of the page. Drop banners add a three-dimensional aspect to the scrapbook when holding it up to show pages to family and friends.
